Learn All About Our Care

Thank you for choosing to have your procedure performed at Methodist Southlake Hospital. We’re dedicated to make your surgery experience as comfortable as possible and ensure you receive the best care available.

Preparing for Surgery

At Methodist Southlake Hospital, two appointments will be set to help prepare you for surgery: pre-admission testing and the surgery itself. Ideally, these two appointments are set several days apart to allow for any additional consultation that may be required, such as pulmonology or cardiology.

If, at any point, you have questions specific to your surgery, please talk to your physician or contact our pre-admission testing department at +1 (817) 865-4645.

Pre-Admission Testing

Your pre-admission consultation will allow our team the opportunity to gather important information about your medical and surgical history. During this time, we’ll also provide you with important instructions on how to prepare for your surgery or procedure. Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable surgery and reduce possible complications or no need for readmission.

Pre-Admission Visit

We will schedule a time for you to come in to the hospital and undergo a standard pre-admission test. If your procedure requires, this visit will include a complete history and physical by our registered nurses and any diagnostic tests that your surgeon or physician has ordered may, including, but not limited to:

  • Vital signs (blood pressure, body temperature)
  • Blood and/or urine testing
  • Chest X-Ray
  • Electrocardiogram

For your pre-admission consultation, please bring:

  • Insurance ID card(s)
  • Driver’s license or government-issued photo identification (must be present to proceed)
  • List of current medications (including vitamins and herbal products)

Day of Surgery

If you do not preadmit, please bring the following the day of your procedure:

  • Insurance ID card(s)
  • Method of payment
  • Driver’s license or government-issued photo identification
  • List of current medications (including vitamins and herbal products)

Please bring all your medications to the hospital in their original bottles. Hospital caregivers are required to reconcile your daily medications ordered by physicians outside of the hospital.

All patients must be accompanied by someone who will be responsible to provide transportation after the surgery is complete. If you arrive unaccompanied, it is likely that your surgery will be cancelled.

Please plan to arrive two hours prior to your surgery. You may park anywhere except the ER ambulance parking spaces. When you arrive, enter the main lobby and sign in with our front desk receptionist.

Our admitting clerk will provide you with any admission paperwork needing completion. Please have your driver’s license or government-issued photo identification, along with your insurance card(s).

You will be escorted to our pre-op area once admitted. Friends and family may wait in the surgical waiting area and will have the opportunity to visit with you before surgery.
