Prior to Your Procedure

At Methodist Southlake Hospital, two appointments will be set to help prepare you for your procedure: a pre-admission consultation and the procedure itself. Ideally, these two appointments are set several days apart to allow for any additional consultation or testing that may be required.

Pre-admision Consultation

Your pre-admission consultation allows our team the opportunity to gather important information about your medical and surgical history. Our goal is to provide a safeand comfortable procedure, reduce possible complications and eliminate the need for readmission.

What to Expect

During your consultation, we will provide important instructions on how to prepare for your surgery or procedure. Depending on your procedure, we may also require a complete history and physical, plus any diagnostic tests ordered by your surgeon or physician including, but not limited to:

  • Vital signs (blood pressure, body temperature)
  • Blood and/or urine testing
  • Chest X-Ray
  • Electrocardiogram

What to Bring

Please bring the following to your pre-admission consultation:

  • Insurance ID card(s)
  • Driver’s license or government-issued photo identification (must be present to proceed)
  • List of current medications (including vitamins and herbal products)

If you have questions specific to your procedure, please talk to your physician or contact our pre-admission testing department at +1 (817) 865-4645.
